thank you for responding to my post. I am a female 53 yr. old woman living in middle Tn. I love horses, and used to ride, but unfortunately had a bad horse accident, and spent manyy years afraid. I have an appaloosa mare, and a Ky Mtn saddle horse whom I have owned for a year, and JUST LOVE. I would love to meet other people in my area who love horses, and are willing to tolerate a born agained novice.

Welcome to the forum, Commanche. I'm in Middle TN as well. Live in the 37214 zip code but board in Mt Juliet, close to Providence. I don't get to ride as much anymore, but I'm always looking for friends that are into horses like I am. To be honest, I'm almost back to the Novice stage due to not riding as much in the last few years. Takes me longer to bounce back than it used to.

Hello Commanche23! I just got 2 KMSHs about 2 months ago. They are yearlings and everything I imagined they would be and more. What color is your KMSH? Mine are lack with white blaze and chesnut with white socks and blaze (she has chrome in her mane & tail), fillies.

Its not just people trying to pass off kids horses either which by the way if it was a good beginners horse it wont be in an auction, but one of my wifes best freinds bought a pretty black quater horse from an auction brought him home put him to pasture it rained and he was still a good lookin horse he was just a bay. They complete cover him in hair die.

I'm in Middle TN also and have been back into horses since 2004. Of course, I have too many and do not know when to say no. sixteen last time I counted that includes the four foals. I have 12 for sale. Someday maybe all of us can meet somewhere in between, wouldn't that be great!!!

Ladyhawke- I get up your way every now and then. Usually not for horse related reasons though!

I'd say dishonest horse sellers are out for everybody, regardless of income level. I was just reading about horse fraud case involving Tom Selleck. He purchased an expensive show horse ($127,000 I think) and after 2 0r 3 wks the horse was lame. The steroid shots the owner gave him wore off. Selleck had never been informed of this health problem or treatment. He had his trainer buy the horse for him & the defense tried to complicate the issue with that. Selleck did win and they are supposed pay him for the price of the horse, $60,000+ for board & vet fees and $75,000 in punative damages. They said the horse was kept at a very high end stable & received the best veterinary care because they were trying to help the horse plus he didn't want to be accused for being responsible for the horse's lameness. Good for Tom & a good legal outcome. Call me a pessamist but I don't think a poor man with the same problem would have done as well.
