Default dishonest sellers

I live in middle Tn. and i am an adult novice. I have talked with several people and have began to realize that there a lot of individuals in this area who go to horse auctions, and then try to resell these horses as beginner safw, as well as child broke. An adult may be fooled, but anyone responsible does NOT endanger a child. Has anyone had this experience in this area?

it is happening everywhere. It is not just people picking up horses at sale barns and trying to resale as kid or beginner horses. There are people out there that are taking so called rescue horses and doing the same thing. Rescueing is one thing but trying to pass them off as kid or beginner is another. Lets face it, if the horse was worth a shit and a true kid or beginner horse, it would have been sold not have to be rescued.

Like 4j said there is someone in every area that does something like that !! You would be better off to buy local from someone in your area than from anyone off the internet at least till you are more familiar with their tactics and know what to look for !! After you hang around here a while you pick up most of their tricks !! There are some people that sell online that are good but knowing which is which is the hard part !!
Oh, Welcome to the group BTW !!
Ladyhawke lives in Tenn. and she is on every few days or so !! She might know of a good person to deal with !! She might even have something !!

There are RARE occasions in which the 'rescue' horse is worth RE-Selling-I agree with 4J, be very careful.

However----I have picked up very few horses that are good that deserved a new home---7 to 9 percent out of the 160 head I have now received. One good horse, was due to the wife getting news of her breast cancer. I saw her-they told the truth. The horse was awesome and I traded to a family that had bought a piece of crap horse that bucked. They now have a wonderful horse and I have a piece of crap one-I don't care....the good horse has a great home!

I take in the horses people can no longer keep. This is part of my living. I have the time, ability and I have the pasture leases.

In 18 months of doing this---not one person has not returned to me the equine I matched with them. It's early yet.....

I have traded good rideable horses for crap-biting, kicking or sadly one foot in the grave. Why? Because the good horses deserve another chance at a good home.

My idea is that I have the knowledge and ability to try out the horses I am presented.

I will find homes for the trainable, usuable, honest equine.

They all get a chance.

Sadly, not many people see things this way and are out to make a buck. They are everywhere you are.

I helped a friend buy this magnificent, 1400 lb gelding-he did everything you could ask of him. Sorrel with a blaze and 4 stocking white legs! Awesome! 4 weeks after he was purchased----the drugs wore off. Dead lame!
I got in the sellers face after he denied anything was wrong with the horse, telling him I knew he was buying his house [I lied, good guess as it was way better than any rental] that he had to take the horse back or he would be forfieting his reputation. I would widely spread the word that he is a liar and sells bad horses.

OKAY-I had an 'in'. Found out when another friend saw this great horse-was the same horse he looked at to buy, he rode it and it turned up dead lame-this was 8 months earlier.

Got the $4,500.00 returned!

Anyway-if the Crooks want to continue to live [rent or own] and 'operate' where they do-a good and informed promise of exposure of their dealings will get their attention and you will get your money back and/or they will skip town when the pressure is enough.

Defamation of Character or any other Lawsuit is a non-issue as long as you have proof of the wrong dealings, witnesses, victims, etc...

This is nothing new. It's been going on since the beginning of time. Horse Traders, Used Car Dealers, Insurance Companies and Convicts. They all have something in common.

Thumbs up Thanks Mart & Commanche23

Thanks Mart for the mention Commanche, I have several horses for sale and live in Lebanon, 37090. You can look at what I have. I do not lie about what I have. Most of mine are not broke and being worked when I'm not in pain. Right now I have one that is broke to ride, black, laid back, not listed yet (not certain I want to let her go), a rescue, big mare with several WGC's (TWH) on her records just depends on who is interested in her. I will sell only to good homes. She was a mess when I got her almost a year ago and has taken some time to get her back to being fit. Where are you located in Middle TN?

in this area we have them taking in horses in any condition or attitude and turning around and resaling them then you have the others like the stanley bros that will give them shots to calm them down and ride them in ring an tell that anyone who can ride can ride this one. maybe for the rest of that day. just be carefull.

yep joseph I know of the stanley brothers too. They are also ones that are bringing in loads of horses from Montana and then toss the papers in the trash can. Say that because they are selling them cheap, no papers. Some really nice horses but selling as grade which is stupid, they are doing the horses an injustice by tossin the papers.
