Default Opinions on Color

So i'm not really good with coloring on horses and foals and wanted your guys' opinioins, for those of you who know more than I do, lol. This was my first foal born and first I'd ever been around. His dam was a palomino and sire was a black overo with one blue eye. He's a yearling now and sheding out his first winter coat and looks very strange. The front half of him is very dark, almost black and the back half of him is pretty much orange. I'm thinking he's bay but he almost looks like he's sheding out to black. His mane and tail are black, with strands of sorrel, and white, and orange in it though just a tad. Pics attached are from a few hours old, 3 months old, 5 months, and the most recent just a week ago. And yes both his eyes are blue.

He looks like a bay to me. Bays, depending on feed, weather and who knows what else will often change from dark to light from one year to the next. But he definately looks bay, even if he's looking dark, almost black, I would still say he's bay. Pretty boy by the way.

He would definately be considered a bay. The spot on his side looks like a dolphin jumping. Cute colt.

Thanks alot. I kinda figured he'd be considered a bay, but the dark spots where he's sheding out confused me. I wouldn't mind him being black but he's so cute the way he is. And some people came to look at his dam when we sold her when he was like 7 months old and they said he'd be a buckskin, which I don't believe at all. I never though of the spot as a dolphin, it always just looked like an upside down half moon to me, but looking at it again, it really does look like a dolphin, lol
