Default Working Horses Age

How old is your working horse, retired or still working?
Soundness, bloodlines and breed?

By working I mean Cutting, Roping, Jumping, Race, Cowhorse, Barrels etc....

I'm a little confused here... By working horse, you mean something other than occasional trail rides or small shows, right? You mean more along the lines of a competition type horse?

I have a retired rope horse that is 20. She is QH, but I don't know her lines, I've never seen her papers. She has sever navicular, arthritis and is really swaybacked. She is a light very occasional rider for the kids now and will likely be put down before winter.

I also have a 24 y/o appy that is an ex-gaming horse. She is very pidgeon toed in one leg and has some soundness issues because of that. She is an occasional trail rider and when she behaves her self is a decent kids horse. Her lines are here Scoots Red Lady Appaloosa

And I have a 3 y/o that is in the process of deciding which discipline she will do best in. She is sound (at three I sure hope so) I am thinking working cow horse or cutting or something along those lines, but we'll see what she thinks first. Her lines are here Torri San Warbler Quarter Horse

my mare is totally sound at 22 yrs old, shes not worked hard everyday but on the cattle drive days she'll still keep up with the youngsters. We also do cattle penning, trail riding and shes teaching my 3 year old daughter to ride.

shes regestered apha due to the excessive white at the time though she has no paints on her pedigree.

I have a 21 year old Racking mare that i ride for trails. She had a foal last year. She also won 5th place in Plantation Pleasure in the state with my daughter up as I don't show. Other than it taking a long time to recover her weight from foaling she is totally sound.
I do have a aquaintance(SP?) who is riding a 24 year old quarter in barrel races and other speed events 3 times a week but they have to keep his rear ankle soaked in dmso for him to perform, or else it will swell. I think it is cruel but they don't see anything wrong with it.

I sold my cutting bred gelding because he walked the cattle guard and made himself at home with the grass in my yard and on the road !! He was almost 3 and a Highbrow Hickory grandson !! He is in training in Oklahoma now !! Rest of mine are just grade horses !! No work, but are riding horses !! I do have one toby paint that has shown some potential , But I will have to wait and see !! Also have a buckskin paint filly that a trick horse and mule trainer wants !! Thats another wait and see !!
