Default Sparrow the wonder dog!!

My Lhasa, Sparrow is amazing. She must be part cat and have 9 lives!! Over the winter this dog got out of the yard and was missing for 5-6 hours. I could hear her cry every now and then, but she wouldn't cry long enough for me to determine where she was, and we are in kind of a bowl, so everything echos... Well, we had given up, it was getting very dark out and I hadn't heard her cry for a couple hours. We started to head back up to the house and she let out one last yelp. I was close enough to determine the general vicinity. I ran over there, and she had fallen thru a small pond. Our ponds and creeks are all spring-fed, so they don't freeze solid, just get a layer of ice on them. She was tangled in some bullrushes. If it weren't for them, she would have drowned, they held her up enough she could get her head out of the water. Well, I waded in and got her out. She was stiff. She was not moving or shivering and barely breathing. I stuck her in my coat and ran 1/2 a mile back to the house. I called the vet and he said, good luck, she won't make it. She was severly hypothermic and barely holding on. I warmed her by the radiators and dried her off with warm towels. I gave her some honey per my vets advice, and in a little more than an hour, she was FINE!!! She couldn't walk reall well, she looked like she was drunk, but she was trying to play with my lab. The vet couldn't believe she made it! He said it was a late Christmas miracle...

Well, a couple of weeks ago, Sparrow was out terrorizing the cats, one of them got her square in the eye. I took her to the vet and he said, there's nothing he can do, she'll be blind in that eye, she may loose it completely... Well I gave her some eye drops anyway and I had all but given up hope, the eye wouldn't open, and when I opened it it was completely glassy, and this was over a week later. So I let it be.... Well, she's fine again!! The eye has completely cleared, you can see a small scar on her iris, but she can see!!! This dog has got to be about the luckiest thing in the world!!

Sorry, just felt like sharing my wonder dog story.
This is sparrow, she's due any day and can see now!!!

Talking

She is really cute, And a great story. I have a story like that, My female Aussie, had pups just before Christmas, she had them early and she had them outside and it happened to be one of the coldest night we have had, well she had 9 pups in all and we lost 5 of them, and we thought we were going to lose the rest, because the were so cold an stiff and barely breathing. But I brought them in the house and put them over a heating vent and started rubbing there little bodies and they soon started warming up an making noises, I kept them on a heating pad in the bedroom over night and every couple of hours I fed them some baby formula. They were fine the next morning. A couple of weeks later one of our little males got out of the dog house early in the morning another very cold morning, my fiance brought him in the house just froze stiff, his gums were pink and he was barely breathing, I was getting ready for a funeral, my aunt had passed away. So I stuck the cold puppy to my belly, while we called the vet, he told us he would not make it. But I had to try, I got a heating pad out and I just kept rubbing him all over and I wrapped him up in a towl and stuck him in a box with the heating pad down as low as it would go, and stuck him in the sunshine of the window of my bedroom. I worried the whole entire time I was gone. wheather I would have a pup to come home too. When we arrived back home I couldn't get out of the van fast enough, to go check. I didn't want my little boy seeing the puppy if he was gone. But I got up to the room and to my surprise he was all ready to go. I picked him up and he barked and started licking my face. He wanted to play. I was so surprised. So I told my fiance, we are keeping this pup. So every day that I go out and feed, he barks at me and he is ready to play, he loves to play. And we name him Jefe. which is spainish for boss. And he is.
