Default Looking to adopt an English Bulldog

Hi, I am new to this forum and I am looking for help. I am on a mission. My Dad has been in remission from cancer for 10 years. Since September of 2008 My Dad's health has gone down hill. This past weekend he made it to my brother's wedding. The trip was about a 5 hour drive for my parents. Any way, my Dad may not make it to Father's Day. My Dad is strong and we thought we were going to lose him a few times. At the present time, the doctor's say that nothing else can be done for him. I live in Kentucky and my parents live in Liverpool, NY. I want to do something amazing for my Dad. He has always wanted an English Bulldog. I realize how expensive these dogs are to purchase. I am not in the position to spend $1000 and up for a puppy. So, I am asking for help. If anyone would be willing to donate a dog to me or let me adopt one for a small fee; if this is a realistic possibility. This would mean the world to me and my Dad. I will accept the responsibility of caring for this dog in his honor. It would be a joy and and an honor to accept this responsibility for him. This is one thing my Dad did not do in his life. It would be a miracle to find him one. I'd like to double surprise him on Fathers Day with a visit from me and my family and add a new member to his. This dog would give hime something to look forward to and to continue his fight. I thank anyone who reads this and can help. A prayer and a kind thought will go along way for me on this journey too.

Default Good Luck

I hope you can find someone with the biggest heart to do this for you. It would be truly amazing. Animals have amazing healing powers. I see it all the time. Best of luck to you and your family on finding one. Go to your local news station. Sometimes they will help.

Have you tried using Craigslist? You can search by state/area. I've seen several English bulldogs UFA around here. Also, you can try petfinder.com, they always have a list of all rescues in your area, and you can also post 'wanted' ads on there as well.

I can look around here if you'd like.

Thank you for your suggestions. I have checked on petfinder and adopt a pet. Some of the rescue groups have alot of rules. I live in Kentucky and some of the prganizations won't adopt pets out of state. I would appreciate you looking for me. I am praying for this and if it is meant to be, it will happen. Thank you.

Take a look on Craigslist.org Under the pets section, you can find tons of pets that are looking for new homes for small 'rehoming' or adoption fees.
(Breeders are not allowed on craigslist, so usually you can find a good deal. Cat/Dog wise at least.)

Thank you. I looked on Craigslist and posted. I've talked with local animal shelters. One offered to sponsor my Dad and help him, but she wanted me to bring him to the shelter. He lives in NY and I live in KY. It did give me some hope that this miracle can happen. I pray about it and am working hard, using advice people give me, post on the internet, hang signs at local businesses and network with people. I believe this will happen. It is a difficult task, and I am not giving up!! Thanks for your suggestions.

Try emailing this person. She has a full blooded mom, and mix breed pups for adoption. Not sure what they are mixed with, but they look like purebred old english bulldog pups right now.

Thank you for your suggestion about Craigslist. I did find an English Bulldog from Alabama. I planned on picking her up this weekend. However, God has a way of changing our plans. My Dad passed away this morning and I have to leave tomorrow for New York. I'm not sure how long we will stay and I emailed the dog owner that it was not fair to her or the dog to be put on hold. She informed me that the dog has some others interested in her. I do appreciate your help and suggestions. It makes me feel good that there are people around willing to help.

I am so sorry for your loss. My mom is currently going through chemo for cancer. So I know it is hard. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
