Welcome! Your poodles are too cute and PeeBee could be a picture of my mini pin Penny.
She's overweight and when she relaxes she sticks her little pink tongue out just like that. I had a red one and she never did that. Penny's weight was starting to worry me because she just kept balooning up and was getting short of breath. I have tried several diets and they all failed (diet Purina, Iams diet--she gained weight on it.) She is relentless in her pursuit of food. She can snatch up a bologna sandwich so fast you never even saw it. Well anyway, I got a catalog from Smartpakequine.com and a coupon for free shipping. They will send you free samples of their dog food. I had 3 different kinds of weight loss dog food sent to me. Of course she loved all three. So I ordered a bag of Wellness Healthy Weight Super 5 Mix. It is actually working! Poor little thing only gets 1/2 cup a day and I have to shut her in the bathroom to eat otherwise she will eat all the other dog's food. It's impossible to stay in the room and try and supervise her with the other dogs. She's just too fast! So she has to stay in the bathroom until all the other dogs have finished. Then I let her out and she races to the other dog bowls to lick them and sniff around in case a crunchy fell out of the bowl or the dog's mouth. She has lost a lot of weight over about 2 months time. I don't have a scale. But instead of being shaped like a baloon, she's more like a Twinkie shape and is developing a little waistline. She is more active and goes outside to play with the other dogs. After mini pins are spayed they get so fat and I fought this battle for years, I'm just so excited something works and wanted to share it. This is for anybody that wants to put their dog on a diet, I'm not saying you should. We love them chubby or thin.

I would love to try anything. She is active when she is not sleeping. which is most of the time. But I think the real culprit is my Hubby, He is always feeding them something.

Talking I AM the alpha dog!

Well, there is always a culprit isn't there? It was tuff to cut out all table scraps because I have 4 other dogs. When one of them has to take a pill I stick it in a chunk of hot dog or cheese. Now you've got the others staring at you with their tails wagging. You can't just not give them something too. I can't give everybody a treat and not Penny (her fat little body jumping on her hind legs).
The key is portion control! It doesn't matter to Penny that she got a little tiny piece and the coon hound got more. She doesn't notice! All that matters is that she got some. If it's really something I don't want her to have, I give her 2-3 of her diet crunchies. She doesn't care! She is happy anyway. Your husband could keep a stash of the diet crunchies and instead of feeding her that half of piece of pizza he doesn't want, he can give her a couple diet crunchies. She won't care! After having mini pins for 13 years I have finally outsmarted them. I AM the alpha dog in this house.

Cool My dogs are driving me nuts.

Hi again!
I was just looking at your pics of your dogs again mainly because I can't get over how much PeeBee looks like my Penny, and mini pins don't all look alike. Penny likes to sleep like that--------on her back with her tongue sticking out, preferably under the covers.
I like poodles too. I had one in high school. She was very intelligent just like they say they are. You mentioned your mommy dog liked to get in the mud and it made me remember how much my poodle loved to hunt. I grew up on a farm and she was free to go out and hunt in the fields. In fact she was one of the best hunting dogs I've ever had. I bet the hunting instinct is responsible for her love of mud. I know sometimes I think my dogs do things just to piss me off, but more often than not there is a biological reason for it
Also I have to admit the mini pins do spiteful things to get back at me when I leave. I'm at home most of the time so they hate it when I leave. This summer my youngest mini pin (1 yr.) Daisy has chewed up my address book, my flip flops, and my brand new Victoria's Secret bra. I ran around chasing her trying to hit her with the bra. She knew what she was doing. She always picks something very personal of mine, something she sees me use all the time. Has PeeBee ever been devious like that? My others have pretty much stopped that stuff since they are older. They keep you on your toes, always trying to anticipate what they are going to pull next. That's why I was so happy I won in the battle of the diet.
When I first got my mini pin and beagle, Ihad a really good cat (well behaved, not destructive). I would come home from work and the kitchen would be trashed. I blamed the dogs but I couldn't figure out how they were getting up on kitchen counter, refrigerator. One day I finally caught them in the act. Kitty was knocking the stuff off the counter, etc. to the dogs! Partners in crime.
I think I need to get out of the house more. I think these dogs are driving me nuts!
Have a good weekend!
