Be sure to take a first aid kit for animals and humans.
A full list of show clothes and back ups in case someone gets dirty right before time to go in ring. One thing that I have found useful and always handy is wet ones or similiar handy wipes. They come in great for last minute touch ups on kids and animals. Seems they always have a dirty spot right at time to go in the ring. Also, take an extra bucket or two. When away from home is always when one will get cracked or busted. I know what you mean. We stayed out of the show business end of the horses for 14 years and we are going to one for 6 days on Labor Day Weekend. We leave on Wednesday to Monday. I have already started lists of things for us and horses, as well as working on sponsors for the horses. We used to have a group of sponsors that helped us out every year and boy is it hard getting new ones after all these years and with money being as tight as it is now. One of our main sponsors went out of business last year thanks to the auto crisis.

I always take an extra girth, billet strap, leather pieces in case something needs to be tied. Also do you need fans for your stalls to keep your horses cool? Don't know where you are going or where your horses will be though. Extension cords for the fans, do you need clippers trimmers??? Shipping boots is anther thought depending on how far you are going. I also keep diapers or maxi pads in case of bad cuts...first aid kit which has already been mentioned. And as for the show sheen, I learned this last year and it was WONDERFUL. Instead of paying an arm and a leg for Peppy and Show Sheen go to the Dollar General store and get the stuff that African American people put in their hair. IT IS THE SAME THING!!! Plus is is CHEAPER! It makes our horses shine, plus conditions their mane, tail and coat while using it. The stuff we use is in a pink can. Good luck on your trip!!! Oh, hangers foryour buckets if you are in stalls.

=] Shows are absolutely awesome.
As for hoof polish - get the boot polish from like .. Dollar General It helps moisturize the hooves and it makes them look nice. Show Sheen's the best thing on the planet - it makes the horses look awesome and nice and shiny.

Thanks guys!! I knew I was forgetting something. We are only going about 20 miles, but they will be stalled for 4 days. Unfortunately the stalls are about the size of a one horse trailer, you have to back them into the stalls. I am going to try to do as much as I can with clipping and bathing before we get there. The girls show on Sunday and Monday, then the horses are released on Wednesday. I figure if I can get them clipped and bathed Sun AM, then hopefully they will be good to go for Monday too, maybe a quick hose off Sun PM. I just hope the girls have fun and do thier best.

it also dries the hair out b/c its loaded with silicone. Bad for the mane/tail- dries the skin out. I dont use anything with silicone in it. Nice moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, then Eqyss detangler as it has NO silicone in it.
