Default Pony Express Race- October 31st

Come be part of history and participate in the first Talihina Pony Express Race held in beautiful SE Oklahoma during the peak fall foliage viewing. Ride back into time as a "pony express runner". Unlike the 1860 ad for pony express riders- "wanted, young, skinny, wiry fellows" we would like to invite all horse riders of ages 8-98 to participate in the event. This truely unique event is a combination of obstacle course, cross country racing and downtown mail delivery all wrapped in one! The event will start at 9 am on October 31st at the Talihina School Show Barn. All contestants will receive a free awards luncheon ticket, t-shirt and map bandana. A youth division of ages 8-11 and 12-15 will compete in a short course with just the obstacle race. Adults will compete in an obstacle course and a cross country race, totally 5 miles. Terrain will be varied from asphalt, gravel, grass to plan old dirt. Cost is $ 75 for youth division and $ 125 for adult division. Contact me at manager@talihinamainstreet.org for more information.

Default Donkeys and Mules are welcome

Sure bring them on. They will compete right along with the horses.

Nope and we don't care what color they are or how they voted in the last election. We just want them to come race and have fun!
However, if the Mules feel they aren't getting the attention they deserve- we will open up a special category for them with enough participation!
Thanks for the laugh. LOL

We are located in the town of Talihina. You are thinking of the Scenic Drive called Talimena Scenic Drive. It is so named because it starts just 7 miles East of Talihina and ends in Mena, Arkansas.
The weekend of the Pony Express will be at the peak of fall foliage season.
It will be a beautiful time to ride your horse and enjoy the leaves.
