I've been raising chickens for 5 years now and I can't get enough. I have a 100x100 chicken pen and with all the chickens, I think I need to build another. I love them! I can't stop buying them. I also raise my own chicks for resale and that helps with the feed too. I have all kinds. My favorite are the Silver Laced Wyandottes. They are GORGEOUS! I also have Rhode Island Red, White Leghorn, Brown Leghorn, Red Sex Link, Black Minorca, White Plymouth Rock, Turken, and Black Australorps. I also raise ducks and potbelly pigs.

Well my flock is small, my chicken coup is one that is built on runners so it can be easily moved. I have about 15 birds, I have so Doms, Barred Rocks, Light Brahmas, and one Turken Rooster we call RoHo. I love the Doms, thou they seem to be really docile in nature, I had my little boy who is 1 1/2 years old, he loves the chickens, and I had my birds out of the pen letting them forage in the front yard, and I have one very tame hen and she was out front with my son and he just squatted down and started petting on her and she just sang to him, this lasted about 15 minutes and he got up to come to me and she followed him all over the yard. I love my chickens. I could watch them all day.

I have had chickens for about 5 yrs also and love it too! My chicks pay for their own food with egg sales. And are the best bug getters.

Yeah, the money I get off of some of the chicks I sell buys my feed for the most part. I also breed and raise different breeds of ducks. They are so awesome watching them waddle around the yard looking for bugs. If anyone is interested, I have 6 Rhode Island Red Roosters I need to find good homes for. They are 8 months old. Crowing and HUGE! You would think I fed them miracle grow! I just have way too many roosters around and they are starting to rape my cats and ducks. They need homes ASAP! I also have a neighbor across the street that likes to use them for target practice if they get in his yard.

I only keep one rooster here at a time. Rape is right! I have 26 hens. The RIR's are my favorite though. The roosters aren't bad if cooked in a crock pot I hear.

We just butchered 3 of our roosters. and they make great chicken and noodles. they are more tender when they are just starting to crow. I bought my in April. so they were about 6 months old. We don't like doing it, but We do what we have to do sometimes.

I give my neighbor all the chickens or roosters I don't want, she buys all my eggs and bakes me cookies and bread. They even come get the snapper turtles when I get one. They love that stuff!

I would like to see how my roosters would taste, but my hubby won't have anything to do with plucking a chicken. He says it stinks really bad. I have never tried it. I have really mean rooster that I need to do something with because he will get you when you turn your back to him. My hubby is ready to shoot him. lol
