Default Bred 2yr old

I am looking at a 2yr old filly. The people informed me that she was accidently exposed to their stud (not her sire). They have not had her checked in foal yet.

My question is if I go ahead and buy her and she does check in foal would I be safe in going ahead and having her broke and just lightly ride her around here, then give her a break to foal and start back with her after the foal is weaned. The guy I'd have start her is a friend so I can tell him I don't want her pushed too hard due to pregnancy.
Or would I be better off just delaying her until after the foal is weaned?

You can start her slow not to stress her but work is good for a expecting mom helps in the delivery just don't work her to hard will not be a bad thing. Good luck

Me personally I would wait until the filly foals and the foal is weaned. She has enough stress on her right now being so young with the possible pregnancy. I bought a 3yo a few years back and she was in foal. I did not stress her at all by trying to train, just let her be an expecting mom. A girl I knew bought one at the same time I did, same scenario and she started saddle training her and the filly aborted the foal. Basically, if it were me I would not. Leading and disengaging and yielding from the ground slowly might be ok, but check with your vet.

I would have to agree with Belle.

We had one a few years back we did not know was bred. She lost the foal during training.

Its already stressful on her to be in foal at a young age, I wouldnt add any more to her.

If she is checked by the Vet, asap, and not that far along, I would give her the lute shot and abort. IMO, something the owners should of done.

I think your right and I would put breaking her by a year and start her as a late 3yr old.
That way in case she should have any bronc in her I won't risk her hurting herself or foal.
May already be too late for a shot or pinching it off. Not sure of the dates but will ask when I go see her in person. Heavy rains and my Mother going in the hospital has put off my looking.
There should be alot of ground work I can put in to her without stressing her.

We start ours later as well. I want them to grow and mature in mind and body. The younger they are the less they retain.

As with everyone else I don`t start mine till near 3 years !! But there are plenty of things you can do as groundwork that will help the training process !! Two is a bit young to have been bred but many ranches breed early !! She should be fine just make sure she has a good balanced diet with plenty of hay and a bit of exercise so as not to get too fat !!
