Talking bouncing with joy!

Okay ..
So, I had decided to keep Razz after convincing Mom that we were able to keep two horses on the one acre [ soon to be two acres ] they'd be pastured on. I asked the woman with the filly to hold her and I'd give her the money up front to hold her - she refused. I felt bad. But that didn't hold me back. Now, I'm looking for a home for my old man, again.

We went to Morengo, OH [ a almost 2 hour drive ] to check out a colt. Keyword, here, being a. Well, he was pastured with a buddy, a saddlebred colt. The afore mentioned colt is a Quarter Horse. I said I'd never own a Quarter Horse, they're overrated blah blah. But that was before my friend taught me something. She told me that there's not wrong breed for a good horse. Lesson learned. So, meanwhile we arrived and I took one look at this colt and knew he was my future show prospect. I fell into the pool of his kind blue eye. No white near his eye whatsoever. He has a star and a snip on his nose and one sock on his left hind leg [ like Razz ]. His eye caught me and he handles nicely. He doesn't like flies [ go figure! ] and fly spray, right now, isn't his best friend. He's an awesome guy! Mom fell in love with his buddy, whom I'll call Diesel. They're best buddies and Mom said on our way home, "Julia, if we can find a home for Razz, we'll take the pair." And dad says, "You can't split up a team like that." They truly are best buds. They stuck through the Sugarcreek Auction [ a local slaughter auction ] and they were both pulled from the meat / kill pen. They touched my heart with not only their story but also their looks. They most definitely have something going for them. They both have a current negative coggins [ pulled at Sugarcreek ]. The horror stories I've heard about that auction house aren't just stories. The woman that is caring for them, now, said she cried the whole way through. I know she's a genuine horse owner and lover. She also offered to take Razz if I found someone that would like to take a look at another horse of hers. I can't get over it, right now I'm just writing on a buzz. An ecstatic bug! She told us to give us gas money to come get them as well as to give us the injections for their shots they need. So, needless to say, I'm hoping the woman today decides she wants my guy. He'll always hold a special place in my heart as my first horse as well as my first rescue. It's time for the both of us to move on and he needs to go to a home where he doesn't have to worry about going to the fairground and being stalled all week and not know where he is. I'm not torn, anymore, I know that I'm doing the right thing - no matter if two people are going to be angry with me. I'm not "throwing" him away - I'm giving him the chance to be a better horse as well as just live his life like a horse with the occasional ride. I know he won't go to a slaughter house because this woman's adopted from a rescue - meaning she's had everything checked and she's checked out for them. I've tried to please people since I've been born, but I'm tired of pleasing others. It's time to think, some, about myself. We need to plant another post and we need to get the barn door fixed. Would you guys suggest dividing it in half or keeping it just the way it is? The only way they'll be stalled is when it starts to get cold out and winter comes. And probably, if it rains. Should it just be a run-in or should we split it? It's about 12 FT wide and 11 / 12 FT in length ad about 8 FT deep. We'll see how things go!

Forgot to take pictures! I'm thinking they're both Chestnuts [ liver type ] and they both have socks, the Saddlebred has two, the Quarter Horse has one.

** Saddlbred - Barn Name: Diesel Show Name: IAM Gasoline
** Quarter Horse - Barn Name: Eli Show Name: Elijah Bleu

Sounds like you found your horse.
Congrats.

One thing I want to mention is, QH dont have blue eyes. He is either a solid paint or crossed with something else.
The only way he can be QH is he is a crop out paint from two QH and has to have color, and from what you described, he has no color, so he is not pure.

Talking

See, I didn't think he was completely QH, miss_snickers. I'm thinking he's a solid Paint but that's how he went through Sugarcreek, as a QH. After consideration I've decided not to get the American Saddlebred. I don't have the time to work with two and I'd rather focus my time and patience on one of them. And I'd also like to keep Razz. Razz is my baby, he really is. I'm going to make time for the one, but I don't think I have the gumption to keep up with two. The Saddlebred would've been my parents, but they're not really horse people [ as of yet! ]

I'm still going with Eli for the little man, that's what I'm going to call him. But I thought I'd update you guys. I just want to be able to focus on one and still have something to hop up on when I want to ride things out. =]

Talking Ahh! No pictures!! D:

I figured he was a BS Paint, mart. He's about two hours away from me, so I'm probably not going to go up just to get pictures, but I'm going to try and go up with my neighbors to let them have a look and see what they think.

The womans farrier said he though he had a club foot. I see no difference whatsoever, but that's just me. His hoof, to me, don't look drawn up. It's his left fore foot that the farrier said he thought was clubby, but he was stomping it like crazy trying to get the flies off. It was comical to watch.

and my question to ya`ll:
The colt was bought from the kill pen at Sugarcreek, as has been mentioned [ I think! ]. He was taken from his dam, and I'm guessing none to gently from the stories and write-ups about that auction house. The woman that owns him thinks it's in his best interest if we trailer Razz the two hours up there to load the colt up with him. He's going to be a little anxious being taken away from his buddy, the Saddlebred, but I don't know if it'd benefit Razz. I think he could deal with a off-farm trip and learn to go to strange places with other horses, that way if he doesn't act up I'd know he'd be good for Fair. When my neighbor trailered him to our house, he didn't act up and didn't throw a hissy fit, either. He calmly walked out to the pasture and proceeded to stuff his face with grass. LOL But anyway I don't really know what to do - the woman is adamant about trailering him with another horse. If anyone could get him into the trailer unharmed it would be my neighbors. They're so gentle with their horses it's amazing. If I'd run the risk of hurting Razz or Eli in the process of trying to load the colt, it wouldn't be worth it. Heaven forbid either of them get hurt. I have shipping boots to use, should I need them.

So, I guess my overall question to you guys is: Should I trailer Razz there to load the other? And if not, what should I tell the owner?

I don`t see a problem with it and it might be good for both horses !! Some colts are more comfortable with another horse as long as they are divided in the trailer !! I would not put them both in the same space because even the best horses can be protective of their territory !! And carry some feed/hay with you as that will also help him settle down !! As for the club foot it could possibly be a hoof flair instead !! Just get your farrier to look at him when you get him home !! He may need a little corrective trimming !!

Angry

You know - it seems when things get settled - everything's tilted up again.

mart - I don't think he has a club foot to begin with. the one that's supposed to be club is the one he was stomping on when we went out there. He was stomping trying to get the flies away. I figured it'd be okay to trailer Razz up there and it may do him some good, too, but he'll have to have at least fifteen minutes in between the four hours - 2 up, 2 back down. It's a slant load trailer, so, I don't see a problem at all.

My aunt called my mom today - and unfortunately they talked us into renting off of them four years ago. I don't really like to say unfortunately - because I wouldn't have gotten Razz if we hadn't moved down here - but one thing's for sure - I will never rent off any of my family after this debacle. But anyway - she called and said by the end of the month the bank is going to foreclose on their land and the land we're renting from them - meanwhile they live like 300 ft away - I'm tired of things going upside down whenever I think things get settled. If I'm able to keep Razz - and I better be able to otherwise I will never talk to them again - I'll try to prepare him for Fair for FFA and 4-H. I'm in both this year and I'm going to be on the horse judging team for FFA. If things fall into place - fine, if not - I couldn't care one way or the other. I do want this colt - he's very special, but I mean ... GAWD!
