Default Friend needs help!

I have a friend in South carolina that has a spotted saddle horse that is ten times worse than Magic. She spooks when fly spray hits her, she's already thrown her and now she's lost her confidence in riding. She's scared to kick her because the last owners told her that she'll take off if she did. And I want to go help her but i have no way of getting there (too far away) Give me some advice for her!

It sounds like your friend needs to sell the horse to someone that knows how to work with a horse like that and get one that is dead brk . Is she just starting out ? I know how they feel it took a lot of looking to get a horse that I could ride and feel good on . If it was not one thing it was another . My first horse did not like a woman . My 2nd was a great horse and dead brk but she was so tall it scared me I kept her for a long time and did good on her but I ended up getting a dead brk smaller horse. Now after 4 years I have one that is the right size and I do pretty good with him . I wish your friend luck I know that feeling of having lead in your feet when it is time to get back on your horse because you are scared. Please keep us updated.

NO she's been riding for years, but it's been about 4 years because she had to sell her last horse because the owners had told her that he was gelded and turned out they lied and they didn't have the money to geld him. So they sold him and she's been looking for 4 years and got macy and she got so busy with school Macy was sitting in the field getting fat and lazy. And now she rode her not to long ago and was thrown. But she said if she sells Macy she isn't going to get another one and just keep her Mini Rusty. And I don't want her to do that. She loves horses so much and it took her so long to beg for another one.

She could not tell the diff. a stud or a gelding ? (not trying to be smart) If she sells hers can she not take the money from it and buy antoher one ? Sounds like to me she would need one that you can let sit for a long time and it be the same . I had a standerbred like that you could let her sit for a year and saddle her up and not have any problems. She was in her uper teens eary 20s . I also have a TWH now that you can do that way and she is only
5. I wish I had more to give you but I dont know what to tell you . I just would not keep a horse that bucks and could posb. hurt me .

Sounds like she needs a friend to help her shop for a good, safe, sane horse if she wants to ride.
How long did she have Macy before she rode her and at what level was Macy supposed to be trained? Green? Dead Broke?
If more than a couple months have passed she has pretty much run out of any option of contacting the previuos owner to buy her back.
Now she will have to disclose the circumstances inwhich she was bucked off to any potential buyer so no-one else will be hurt.
Years ago I answered an ad that said," Young horse, bad attitude", it went on to describe the most beautiful Buckskin Paint...well, being in the training business I watched the ad for three weeks and finally broke down and went to look---OMG! They described her beauty to a T. I really thought she was going to be butt ugly.
Well, I bought her and she was a bit spoiled, the owners were afraid of her. Well, I used her as a broodmare for a couple years and then started riding her, she ended up being a very nice novice rider horse.
Sometimes it is 'pilot' error and from the description you gave of your friend [gelding/stud] I believe she may have ridden a lot, most likely well trained horses, but then on her own she ran into a little trouble.
Find someone reputable to help her out, to find the right horse for her. Any horse she gets-make sure she gets to ride it for a week or so before paying to make sure it is what the owner represents it to be.
Good luck!

I am sorry that your friend is having problems with her horse. It sounds like she could use a trainer to help. I would try and search out someone I was comfortable with and start from the beginning - instilling good ground manners, and proceed from there. Sounds like her horse is picking up on her nervousness and that's a no-win situation for either one of them.
