Question Report on Cloned Meat Featuring OCA. What is your opinion on this?

Despite a September survey that found that 64% of Americans are repulsed by the idea of eating food from cloned animals, the FDA announced this week that milk, eggs and meat from cloned animals will soon be allowed on the market.

Ignoring a number of disturbing studies suggesting potential human health hazards, Stephen F. Sundlof, director of the FDA Center for Veterinary Medicine said "that meat and milk from cattle, swine and goat clones is as safe to eat as the food we eat every day." Consumer, food safety, and animal welfare groups have condemned the announcement, pointing out that animal cloning is inherently unpredictable and hazardous, and that the practice of cloning has led to a high number of cruel and painful deformities in the experimental animals' offspring.

Recognizing that requiring labels on cloned food would lead to a massive boycott by consumers, FDA bowed to industry lobbyists by stating that there likely will be no required labeling of food products containing ingredients from cloned animals. The FDA's controversial proposed regulations in the Federal Register were followed by a public comment period where the OCA and its allies helped tens of thousands of concerned consumers submit comments to the FDA. Despite these comments, the FDA went ahead and approved food from cloned animals.

The OCA is calling on health and humane-minded consumers across the nation to stop this outrageous and hazardous regulation from coming into force as federal law.

Send your comments to the FDA.

Fixed the link on this.
I think this is going to cause alot of trouble...and to think they don't even have to tell us if it's cloned or not! For all we know we have been eating it and don't know yet. How many of us have been "experiments" already? This is scary stuff IMO

I don't see the need to clone basic livestock. What's the need? I am more concerned with what they feed and inject our livestock. I think that is already seen in vast numbers with very young girls (8yrs. old) going through puberty. They are not old enough mentally to handle the hormones & body changes. It causes them a lot of problems now and who knows what the long terms hold. I don't think there would be any difference in cloned meat unless they are giving them chemicals. In the long term I think it will be harmful because man is messing with the natural way of things and we will no doubt screw it up. We might end up with cows that attack us in our sleep.

Ok, that's it. I have not bought meat or eggs in years, and I will continue to not. People often wonder why the cancer rate has gone up so much in recent years..... Let me see, I just can't understand why

I will have to locate where I got this Fact----it's real----there is a genectically engineered CORN-that is to lower fertillity rates in humans-I do not know if it is for man or woman or both.....The Government felt they had it contained but there was a finding-proven to be the gentetically engineered corn-over 30 miles away from the 'controlled' experiment. They had not factored into their experiment: birds, mice, other rodents, that would carry the seed outside of the experimental enviroment inwhich they created.
The Government has not factored in the 'secondary' or residual effects of the ingested corn-which just might pass onto another generation, if it skipped the first, because their experiment has been documented and compromised.
Wish me luck on finding that first report again!

I wouldn't doubt that corn can make you sterile. About 2 wks. ago I watched the national news about estrogen in our drinking water making men less fertile. You may ask, as I did, where did the estrogen come from? The urine of women on birth control pills, that's where! Water treatment plants do not filter out estrogen.

P.S. This will really cheer you up too. I watched the History Channel last night and discovered there is an unrecovered hydrogen bomb off the coast of Savannah, GA. In 1958 two U.S. planes were carrying out a military exercise and the radar went out on one and it accidentally ran into the plane carrying the bomb. In order make it to shore and save his crew, the pilot had to jettison the H-Bomb over the ocean. Better that crashing on land with it I guess. Anyway nobody has ever been able to find it. People are still looking for it. One of the flight crew members has a group out there looking for it now. If it weren't for the grace of God we wouldn't be here at all.

P.S. I forgot to tell you the bomb weighed thousands of pounds and was 100 times more powerful than the one we dropped on Hiroshima.
