She prepares employment packets for her company. These include background checks on applicants. Just this week they had a applicant that tested the highest on pre-employment tests and aced the personal interview. A very neat and well spoken person. she had the job in hand. My friend met with her to go over benefits, etc... But then she did not pass the background check. My friend could not tell me why but did say it was not drugs and nothing violent nor was it thieft. Nothing that would interfear with her job or be a hazard to the business. This lady really needed this job. She is single with a young child and forced to live off of public assistance, which she was embarrassed about. My friend and I both agreed that it kindof ticked us off that she could not get a job because of something so minor on her. My friend even tryed to convince HR to hire her anyway. Now we have a family living off tax payers that is quite willing to work and quite qualified for a good job but can't get one. I just dont' think it's fair. |

The lady that applied for the job needs to find out what it is in her background that caused her not to get the job !! They have to tell her !! Its the law !! Did she give all the references that they checked or did they use experian or equifax !! If they used the latter two it might be that there is something that is not hers on the report !! Equifax and the others do make mistakes,, often !!

I know you can be denied a job because you have a bad credit history. I have always thought that was wrong. Do you know insurance companies, like homeowners & auto, set their rates based in part by your credit history? If you have a perfect driving record they still charge you more because of poor credit history. It's just wrong.

Legally she could not tell me any real details. I guess I just assumed it was a criminal background check. She did tell me that it was nothing to prevent her from doing the job and nothing that would be a threat to the company and other employees. If it is credit then of course her credit would be bad, she is unemployed and living on assistance BECAUSE she can't get a job.
I'm just shocked that here is a very qualified lady, one willing to work and can't get a job because of something that may not even be accurate. Honestly the whole system is designed to cause people to fail. |

The system in the USA is made to keep people down if they ever make even one mistake. If they go to prison and get out it is almost impossible to get any type of decent job to support their families, so they have to live off the government or resort to illegal means to support themselves which puts them right back in prison. If you can't work you can't pay your bills so you will have bad credit which has nothing to do with your ability to work. I know of a young that at 17 he stole a 1.99 cent necklace from walmart, now he is 29 and still can't get a decent job for something he did as a young idiot kid. He has never gotten trouble at all since that one problem. We Americans, need to speak up to our government officials and change these bad laws and ways of government.
