Talking Woooohoooooooo!!! It's raining!!!!!!!!!

I talked to our vet, Dr. pullin, and he confirmed the "Yearling Warts" diagnosis. Sadly he said that medically there is not any thing that you can do to speed up the process, just keep them clean if he knocks them off and they start to form a scab.

He did say that I might try scraping a few off and mashing them up and FEED them to him. He clearly stated that this is not backed up by medical research but rather an old timers cure.

SOOOOOO Guess what Sue is having for dinner!!

Talking More power to you.

Glad you are getting rain. It is so mucky here cannot do anything including mowing. Cannot even get the mower to the back field. Definitely not complaining. I would rather have too much rain than not enough. Did the vet say how long before the warts go away. And sickening. I'm Sue likes his dinner tonight. You are too much. Have a great evening.

I had a mare that had warts on her chest. I used desitin the diaper rash ointment on her and that help reduce them greatly.

Default mini has them too

I've glad this topic is here because my little mini, about 8 months old or so has started getting warts also. At first I thought it was sunburn...but are warts!

Did feeding sue the scrappings help?

Buddysgirl,

Not sure if it is helping or not. The one thing that is for sure, it can't hurt!

They seem to get a little better one day and the next I swear they look twice as bad.

Doc Pullin said they will only go away when the immune system has been sufficiently irritated and then antibodies will be produced and they will go away, may take a month or a year.

Like he said, we feed them to him and they start to go away the next week does not mean that it worked as a treatment.

Good luck with them and I hope they don't get as bad as Sue's, just sooooooo damn UGLY!!!!!!!!!!!

Cool Warts!

Here is a statement from my horse book about warts. Vets may chose the method of crushing them with forceps or twisting off the larger warts, it encourages the immune system to fight them because some of the wart tissue makes contact with the bloodstream stimulating the animal to make antibodies. Can't beat join 'em. Best of luck, otherwise you are right this can take several months, up to a year.

Talking

Well I don't know if feeding sue those darn warts did the job or if they just ran their course, either way I'm just happy they are GONE!!!!!.......well almost but this is 1000 times better and it cleared up in two days, kinda crazy the way they just disappeared!!.....Then again it could have been the olive oil......or any of the other 100's of things that we put on them!!
