Default Knott on a mini studs knee

I just got this mini stud 6 months ago, I shaved him about a month ago and discovered a hard, imobile knott about the size of a quarter on the side of his left front knee. He isnt lame on it, but then again he isnt very old that he would be getting the 'old horse' stiffness.
Previous owner says he never got a bad injury and that she says its just a 'calcification' that just started, but doesnt a calcification start after a injury?

Good question, I'm not sure, It usually does after an injury. I have 2 minis. It probably isn't anything to worry about yet. Maybe it will go away after he grows some more?

He is full grown now, about 12.
I have been having some trouble with the seller on telling me the truth about these horses and now I am getting a little nervous,
She says the horse hasnt been show in 2 years,
And she says she could have gotton thousands of dollars for him but gave me one heck of a deal on him,

As soon as they say that they usually ARE lying. Ha Ha From your first post I was under the impression he wasn't very old...so I was thinking a few years. He has probably had that a long time. Is the hair there white?

If he was in with others he could have gotten a grazing kick !! Or any one of many small injuries !! And sometimes they do calcify !! If it doesn`t bother him, I wouldn`t worry about it !! I think they can be surgically removed should you want to !!
Best advice,,, get your vet to look at it !!
