Default New Member to the family...

I think this is the best deal we have come across so far...

We got a call about 3 days ago from someone who needed to find a Doc Bar grandson a home. So we take him, for free.

So we go and get him, and yes he is a stud and about 10 years old. We cringe when we are going to get him.

Come to find out he is APHA (he has some paint bloodlines on his dams side) registered and a grandson of Doc Bar, Poco Marco, Poco Beuno and Docs Zinfandel. All in his first 4 generations. He is BEAUTIFUL, and so well mannered even for a stud, I can lead him next to a pen of mares and he doesnt bother to look. Rarely whinnies and NEVER paces his pen. I worked with him today and he is always paying close attention to me and not other horses. Not sure if he is broke yet (the original owner died suddenly of a heart attack so she cant tell us) But the guy we got him from rode him around bareback and no bridle. Yes our horse landlord is paranoid and double chains his pen while 'Jimmy' is snoozing. I think this is the best deal we have had so far....

That well mannered on the ground, bet he rides like a dream too.

Yes I plan to saddle him tomorrow and see what he does, they docked his tail a little and I think that is plum cruel. He is a little underweight in the pictures but we just got him and are feeding him to death, his feet need a lot of care. Cant believe someone would let him go like that, he is a sweet heart.

Nice looking horse! Are you going to keep him as a stud? He looks a lot like my mare that has Doc Bar in her pedigree (great grand sire)! I was told that Doc Bar bred horses are more bucky/naughty type but my horse is the most well behaved horse on our property! Good luck on him!

His registered name is Dimond Jim Doc,
Could anyone who is a APHA member look up his name and see if he has a performance record?

No performance record. He does have one registered baby from 2004, a mare named Docs Skip N Gem Storm, a sorrel overo from a mare named Damaris Storm, who was owned by Joyce Painter from Three Forks, MT, who is the same name listed on his records.

Ok so update!
I saddle Jim yesterday and he did great! I an pretty sure he is broke, he was such a doll and stood perfectly still.
As for a bit he didnt care for that but toke it, I think he is a hackamore horse.
I am going to try to find out if he knows anything as far as cattle, so we shall see.
