Default Our newest additions

No, not foals, but just as exciting!! Today we welcomed back the first foal we ever bred and raised. Savannah is a gorgeous buckskin filly out of Star (my first ever mini mare that I lost 2 Octobers ago to colic) and sired by Buster (my first miniature stallion) and was born back in 2005.. We had sold her at weaning to a VERY nice couple with a young daughter and they've had her ever since, unfortunately with a young growing family, they decided it was time to be horseless for a while to raise their girls and be able to travel out of state to see their families (both sides families live 6+ hours out of state) so Savannah and her buddy Candy have come to live at Lucky C Acres, where they'll be able to come visit their girls..

I have to say that I am SOOO excited to have Savannah back.. She's always had a special place in my heart and been one of my favorite foals, there was just something about her.. When I walked into their barn tonight and she stuck her head out of the stall I wanted to cry, she reminds me soooooooo much of Star, same head/eye, quirks and attitude.. I told my mom earlier "I've got my Star back".. She's a tad on the "chubby" side so don't be too harsh, they were fed well and yes she's as big as she looks, sticks out at 39" (Star and Buster are both 36" lol) but I don't care, I LOVE her.. Already talking about sending her out for driving training! Going to try and break her to ride since she's big enough to haul around kids..

The other addition is her buddy, On The Rise Farm Candy Kisses, may recognize the beginning of her name, she comes from the same farm Sky did.. She's a 3 year old silver black/dapple pinto with two ice blue eyes! I thought she was smaller than she is, sticked her out at 31 1/2", sooo maybe just maybe, she may get a date with Doc later on.. She's overweight right now, so putting her on a diet and limited pasture, to try and get some off of her.. So here's Candy:

Oh, they are beautiful!! Congrats on getting your baby back. Good luck with training, and possibly breeding.

How sweet! I have never owned a mini, but I have a lady in N. H. who has two paint mini mares she would like to trade both for my mule. These minis jump, and she has started training them to drive. How old do minis live, are their life span like a regular pony?
