Default netting

Okay I am wanting to put a top on my chicken coop --- but really do not want to get into building a roof. So I am using another idea --- which will be PVC electic piping and netting --- but I want a netting that will hold up through bad weather.

Can anyone tell me what type of netting to use.

Netting is a good idea, but in my experience when I used a camo type netting, other birds got caught up in it, sparrows and red birds etc... So I used the cattle panel over the chicken wire. Maybe a screen door type screen would hold up to bad weather, IDK

If you know any local rock haulers tell them when their net tarps rip out on the ends save them for you. They are 96" to 102" wide and anywhere from 15' to 36' long and they block about 70 - 80% sunlight.

i have a chicken coop with pvc roof with chicken wire over the top. the only thing about the pvc pipe is that it isnt real steardy. and after a while of being in the weather it starts to crack. it looked so good when we put it up but now it is sagging in one spot and one pipe has almost completely cracked into. in my opinion you would be better off in the long run using wood as a roof.

This is a terrific idea and I have a quarry right down the road. I have a chicken wire coop with cattle panels on top and all around and plywood for a roof on 1/2 of it. I wanted the sunlight.

I was going to use the gray pvc (Is yours white or gray?) -- it is supposed to hold better --- has a large end and a small end that fit inside eachother. I was thinking about using the chicken wire --- the wood thing --- I do not want to do because my pen is so large --- 24x32x9ft tall --- my coop is 10x14 1/2.

Thanks Bix --- I am going to check these out --- if my pen was not so big --- this would be easy. I did find out --- as long as I do not let my birds out --- nothing is getting them. They love being out though --- but with the skinny coyote roaming around here --- and he got 4 chickens the last time I had them out --- I will wait until Spring. I will have 13 baby chicks --- or 13 so far --- in the next 11 days --- I am excited --- at least with fertile eggs I will not be spending much money trying to recoop my loss. Okay --- I did purchase 15 chickens --- only because I could not have less mailed --- but the Jersey Giants are just the neatest chickens --- so friendly and I love their size and mine are still only babies.
