Default Purina Equine Senior

I have nothing but bad luck with it.
Fed it to two senior horses only for them to have diarrhea, for weeks.
But once taken off and changed, they level out.

I know of more people who have had problems, as well as losing weight, no weight gain and not able to maintain.

I have fed the most expensive feed to a few horses and what I normally feed to others, and see no difference.

Someitmes I think you just buy the name.

Those who feed Equine Senior, good or bad, post.

We feed Seminole Senior to our hard keeper mare and had Scout on it as well. Scout gained quite a bit once we had his teeth floated. We also supplement our WB filly's feed with this as she's growing so fast and is hard to keep the weight on. I like that the pellets are extruded, making them easier to chew and digest. I've had good luck with all of the Seminole products. We have 2 horses on their textured 12%, 2 young ones on the Grow Right textured 14% and 1 on the senior. They all have good weight and are sleek and healthy.

We have 2 horses on equine senior by purina but we don't feed it straight we mix it with the 12%pellets that we feed everyone else. 26 year old gelding is roly poly fat and my other mare has gained weight since we put her on it. No diarrhea for either one of them.

The way I am thinking is how some people can tolorate some things, same with horses. Some horses can tolorate some feeds and some cant.

I have used Equine Sr for years and have had no problems with it. My old gelding is still skinny on it, but he's probably gained around 200# on it, so there is a definate improvement for him. No runny stools. A lot of times when you get runny stools on a feed it is too rich. Sometimes its just the animal. I'm sure when you tried your horses on it they were eased into it over a couple weeks. Sudden diet changes do often lead to runny stools as well. But just as not all feeds are the same, not all horses are the same, and some horses do better on different feeds. Find what works for your horse and stick with it!!

Default Equine Senior feeds

I have fed eq. sr. for 5 years and it has helped my horses gain weight and they have a good shine to them. One horse is 17 y.o. and the other is 27 y.o.The older gelding needs a good teeth floating---anybody in the Texarkana tx. area good at floating teeth?

Hey Mits, you might check with Powell-Perry in Hope. They are good with equine and it would not be that far for you to hit I-30 to run up there.
