Default Looking for a trainer

Has anyone had, or know someone who has, personal experience with a cutting horse trainer near Houston Tx.

We are picking up Garrett's new filly, Shorty, next weekend and hope she will have what it takes to make a cow horse.

Once we get her started I would like to take her to a trainer that will give us a truthful evaluation of her abilities or "Cow", I think she has the bloodline for it but you never know and I don't want to waste a bunch of money trying to make her something she will never be.

4J has recommended Punk Carter, but he is like 5 hours from us, any other help would be appreciated.

I will get punk's number for you this afternoon when I go back to the office at the barn. It is in my papers book at my office. That way you can give him a call and see if he can recommend someone in your area. He will probably know if there is anyone you can trust that lives closer to you. There are alot of good ones out there you can trust but there are alot of shady ones too that just want to get your money.
I will pm you his number tonight.
mart, omaha is further away than punk from Houston.

We trust Punk enough that we haven't even been out to check on peppy since we took her out there last year. We have talked to him on the phone a couple of times and she is doing good. Hopefully, we will get to go out there the end of March when matt is on spring break. Our oldest son lives close to Denton and has been over to see her a few times and says that she looks good.
Fred has known Punk for over 25 years and that is who taught Fred to ride a cutting horse years ago. Unlike CW, I would trust leaving a horse with Punk and not see it for a year and know that it was well taken care of.
