Default saddle?

hey yall
i just got a new saddle for romeo. fits him GREAT (and me too) its a crosby Prix De Nations, Beautiful saddle! well after riding in it twice his back is sore again! my friend thinks it may be him thinking it is gonna hurt, so he is just "saying" it does, or maybe its a little bit of arthritis. he is an ottb, with full racing bloodlines so it could very well be arthritis. lemme kno wht yall think pls. i dont wanna buy the saddle (i still have it on trial) if it is the saddle causing issues. it has good, even contact everywhere it should, but is there anything else i should be checking? o and the withers have plenty of clearance...

i hadnt bought the saddle yet, i had it on trial, and i had my old trainer come out and check the fit. she said it was close, it just wasnt quite right, so i took it back. she also checked his back and thinks some of it is the memory of it going to hurt, and some of it is pain from a bite he got on his back.

If he just thinks its going to hurt,, give him some Bute before you ride a few times then check his back for soreness without the Bute !! The Bute will keep it from hurting while you ride !! Then if he is sore afterwards you can look for something besides the saddle hurting him !! If he doesn`t act sore afterward,, then it probably was his anticipation at it hurting !!
