Default Romeo can jump now!!!

so my TB, romeo, loves to jump. however, we ahve had some serious confidence/catapult/stopping/ducking at jumps issues. we took a 3ish month break and worked only on ground work. well it paid off!!!

we can now canter jumps and still steady up before and after!! lol im so excited. i started him with a very small cross rail, and had him walk over it several times, trot it, and stay steady before and after it. then we moved on to cavaletties, and yesterday we did a small straight rail. i hadnt even SHOWN him the jump and he trotted right over it! this was the confidence he was lacking b4!! he always had too look at it, and even after jumping it we still had problems getting over it! since i started jumping him again, which has been like once a week or so for about a month, he has not refused one jump!!!! im just soooooo excited!!!!! i had to share tht with everyone!!!

Congrats!! Patience and persistence paid off. I don't know much about jumping, but I'm sure you two will have loads of fun now.

I know how you feel, my horse won't jump in the arena over poles but he jumps over ditches and logs on the trail. It's so fun!! Enjoy !!

I just bought a 12 year old gelding who has never jumped. Is it too much to ask of a horse this age to start?? I don't want him clearing high fences - just a nice jumping course set up at home. Thanks for your opinion. Kim
