Default SD barrel horse tortured

I will only repete what has been printed in their local newspaper.
At a rodeo a barrel horse was taken from it's pen, the owner had pulled in to stay the night, she was with the horse at 4:30am. sometime after that the horse was taken from it's pen by 1 or more young adult men. Who then proceeded to torture this horse. They think wire was wrapped around his legs and he was stretched between 2 trucks. He has wire and rope burns all over him.
This happened over the 4th of July weekend and the horse has been hospitalized since.

One of the saddest parts is that this was fellow contestants that did this. Not fellow barrel racers but rodeo people. People that should respect not only each other but the livestock as well.

This just scares me to death. Even though I no longer go off over night any more, I still think how often I pull in, unload and go off to enter, bathroom, concession stand, any number of places and leave my horses alone for 30 minutes or so. In the summer I may not park near everyone else if I can get in the shade further away. I don't mind walking if it means keeping my horses more comfortable.

Theres probably more to the story here but if it were me, I'd probably go off and shoot everyone! I guess no one noticed or heard anything? Crazy. I hate humans for the most part anyway.

How sad but probably true. My daughter belongs to a Jr. Rodeo and I am scared to death at times to leave her horse at night. There were a few kids I don't trust but what is worse is the parents. I didn't know if I would come back the next morning to sick or dead horse or even a horse in a stall. I hope the horse recovers physically and mentally.

I too hope the horse and owner recover. Whoever these people are, you need to keep an eye on them. Don't turn your backs on them because hurting people will be next. Torturing animals is an indicator of a sociopath, no conscience. Torturing of animals is in the background of serial killers. It's not something to be taken lightly, not because animals have the same worthy as humans, but because these people are a danger to humans as well.

Cool New song

I love the new song. God is Great, Beer is Good and people are crazy. How true. Our society or I should say judicial systems let these idiots lose. They need to be dealt with for their crimes and pay dearly. If something doesn't change soon, I really feel vigilantes will come back. Us honest folks are treated like criminals and the criminals get better care than our veterans and elderly. Sad state of affairs. I would rather deal with my animals any day.

My first thought was there was more to the story too.I thought a ex-husband or ex-boyfriend. But that does not seem to be the case. seems the horse was picked at random.
It seems one of the boys father has some standing in the rodeo association. He builds saddle bronc saddles.
I hope they do not get away with it. This was nothing short of evil.
I agree, next time it may be a human.

Cool

How awful, poor thing. Honestly don't people realize that an animal feels pain, sadness, joy, etc. just as we humans do. People who would do this sort of thing would do it to their kids as well. I am sickened by this sort of abuse. Shame on them !!

I doubt that this is the case..........That horse was probably kicking their ( Y ) !!

Probably why there was so much damage to the legs!

I read a comment on some news site that basically said "You know what you said to make these people mad"

I read a comment to that effect to only the one I read was someone speculating that she must have made someone mad. Not that anything definately had happened between them.

And, she may very well have been out running someone and they were jealous. But you know what, I've been running barrels many years. In those years I've been out ran by people that I didn't like BUT never did it ever cross my mind to injure a horse or even to wish one got hurt. I might wish they would hit a barrel or even the rider would fall off (lol) but never never did I want anyone hurt.

I don't care what she may or may not have said or done This is way out of line and there is no excuse for it. It's nothing short of evil.
