Default Registered Horse Owners

Those of you with registered horses, do you know where your registration papers are?
If you put a horse up for sale would you not have your paperwork in order before placing the ad? Making sure you have horse's coggins current and have papers in hand along with a transfer ready to be filled out.

I've been looking around at horses and it's become quite maddening at some of the crap I've seen and heard. Are people really this stupid or do they think the buyer is so stupid they will fall for anything?

Yep!!! I agree whole-heartedly. I have 4 registered horses, but only ONE came with papers I know the registered name on 2, but with Glitter, I don't even know her age for sure. Granted, Glitter was free from my aunt, but I still want her papers so I can know.... I see that a lot though. "horse has papers, but I can't find them" or "horse is registered, but previous owner lost papers" Sad really.

17-18 head I think. All the papers are in the same place. Copies are made if you want to see them. Nothing comes on the property without them, and nothing leaves without them.

I may publish a instruction manual for sellers and buyers. lol

Something like this:
Buyers please show up on time for you looking appointment.
Please do not call about a $10,000 horse if you only have $1,000 to spend.
Please do not try and ride something that is beyound your experience level. This is for your safety as well as our horse's.
Please do not bring your entire family as well as 40 of your closest friends and expect them all to be allowed to ride my horse. This is a purchase appointment not pony rides.

Sellers please have the horse ready to be shown. Don't still be in bed, I'm on time for my appointment, you knew I was coming.
Please do not point to a dark spot 100 acres away and say there he is I think and spend the next 3 hours trying to catch him.
This next one is kindof catchy. While I do not want you to have ridden him for 2 hours before I get there, I would like to see a clean well cared for horse. I would also like to see one that does what the ad claims he does. In plain words, I do not want to get bucked off or run off with by a horse that you advertised as ridden by a small child.
Please have the registration papers there for viewing along with a transfer ready to be filled out and a current Coggins.

These are just afew things that come to mind.

LOL uh, my papers are in my top drawer of my bureau. My underhoser drawer, as for coggins, I do not have them pulled religeously, it only takes the lab 24 hours to get it to me though.

all of my papers are in one notebook. Registration and coggins are in see-through folders with coggins on back side of registration papers. Only have one horse that is not registered but sending for Pinto papers on her.
Cinch I have a friend that has a paint gelding for sale. I think that he is around 5, not registered and has been started on barrel and pole pattern. She is asking $1500 but I think that she would take less

Default YUP, have everything in order

All my horses are registered except the QH. I have everything in a binder with sleeves. DNA, coggins, etc. all with it. I bought one horse with no papers and they registered her anyhow for me because I have so many, just no pedigree cause seller only $0 for her after having coggins and paying fee. His loss, my gain. She was almost dead anyhow. That was a year ago, as a two year she's a black beauty.

I have not owned a unregistered horse since I was a child. But I am talking to a lady with a horse who's papers are supposedly lost.
So if I'd look at him I'd also like to see your friend's horse. Without papers, he'd have to look pretty darn good though. I'd love to have a pretty Paint.

I will get some pictures of him tomorrow. I need to go by her house tomorrow afternoon anyway. When our electricity was out we stuck a bunch of stuff in her freezer and I need to go by tomorrow and get it anyway.
He was actually broke by a different friend of ours and his kids (which know how to ride well) rode him all the time. He has alot of speed. Liz bought him for her daughter but as laid back as he is, I believe that he was to much horse for her. I sure that you could get pinto papers on him. I will ask Mike, where he came from, more about his past tomorrow.
