I now have gapping holes in my barn roof from a tree that was planted there, and my back door is torn up. I also have fencing blown away and some tin that was on a barn addition is also missing, who knows where this stuff blew to, I know we can't find it. I had power and phone lines down in front of the barn, power poles down everywhere. I was in the barn feeding when this happened. Was almost through, filling up water buckets and it hit just all of a sudden. Things started hitting the barn, at first it sounded like hail and then sounded like bombs. Things started blowing in the back door, huge tree limbs. I ran into the feed room because it's double roofed and double walled. The dogs and I stayed in there until it was over. Didn't take long but seemed like forever. Came out to find powerlines down and a tree in my roof and water pouring in. Today the power company got new poles up and got the lines up. They came out yesterday and blocked that line off so I could get in and out of my barn. They have their line up but phone company still has to come get their's up. My barn builder has been here and will call Monday with cost of repairs. Insurance company has been called. Not sure how long it takes them to do their thing. But it's supposed to rain all next week and I don't have much faith in the tarps we have over the holes in keeping out more water. |

At least you and all the critters are ok. I know what you mean about happening sudden. It did the same thing here. We were feeding Friday morning when it hit here too. It came in so fast that I got soaking wet just trying to pull the back door down to the barn. We didn't have alot of damage at the ranch but had more close to our house (we live 11 miles from barn). At the barn we had one tree limb down next to the owners house. It got part of the decorative fence in their yard. Thought that was all untill yesterday afternoon I looked out in one of the mare pens and there was an extra horse. Went to look and the panel fence between the pastures was laying on the ground. We went to put it up and had to wade water that was coming in over the tops of my rubber boots.
Close to home a tornado hit taking trees down everywhere. We were without electricty until about 11 am Saturday. School bus had to drop my child off at my sisters because he couldn't get down our road for the trees. They got it open about 5 Friday afternoon. Huge trees down everywhere but thank goodness none on our place this time. We lost 4 last time a big storm came through a few weeks ago. Good luck on getting the repairs and dealing with insurance company. They can be a pain in the butt and take their sweet time doing anything.

We went riding this afternoon on a couple of roads over in front of our house and there are trees down everywhere. Snapped them off like toothpicks. Saw one house were a tree went down on part of the roof. They had the tree off and a tarp over the roof.

Joseph I am in Sheridan.
I was shocked our power came on on so fast at the house. We are C&L Electric (commonly known as, Candles and Lanterns). It was Saturday before they got the poles replaced and got it on at the barn. My barn and house are on different circuits, I get 2 bills. I keep finding more damage. I guess I was still in shock Friday and didn't see it all. Some fencing blown down and some with trees or large tree limbs on it, a piece of tin on another building is missing-can't find it anywhere so if you see a piece of tin it's probably mine, and I have a broken window in my house but it's double paned and only the outside glass is broken. Of course, it's raining yet again. I have tarps on my barn but I do not doubt it is raining in. I'll have my estimate on Monday and plan on pushing insurance company. We have pictures. The lady said take alot of pictures because she is thinking the adjuster might not want to come out due to mud and water and all the crap laying around everywhere. |

Here I am sick of rain and you guys are putting up with a lot more. I hope all works out for everyone. As far as adjusters are concerned it is their "JOB" to get dirty. That is what we pay them for. Best to all of you on getting things back in order. I know how devastating it can be.

I will be so glad when all of this rain stops
The road to the ranch is underwater again and we are having to go the long way around. Started to leave this afternoon (just thought we were going home early) and turned corner to go the long way home and found one of the broodmares stuck in the mud. We were going to move them as soon as we had a day without rain but instead we had to move them this afternoon. We were wading water nearly knee deep in places to get them moved. At least it wasn't raining at the time we moved them.Good luck cinch getting everything done.

After 2 calls, the adjuster is finally supposed to come in the morning. I need this done. The steel has to be ordered because builder no longer uses this size unless someone requests it.
Even with tarps on water continues to pour in my barn. I'm scared of the roof frame starting to rot. It's been wet now since Friday morning. My whole barn has been wet since Friday morning. I wish it would stop raining for at least a year. |
